A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 15.2-2510.1, relating to localities and school divisions; posting of register of funds expended.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.2-2510.1 as follows:

§15.2-2510.1. Register of funds expended; required posting.

Every locality with a population greater than 25,000 and each school division with greater than 5,000 students shall post quarterly on the public government website of such locality or school division a register of all funds expended, showing vendor name, date of payment, amount, and a description of the type of expense, including credit card purchases with the same information to the extent that the information is available. A locality and school division may exclude from such posting (i) any information that is exempt from mandatory disclosure under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (§2.2-3700 et seq.), (ii) any personal identifying information related to a court-ordered payment, and (iii) any information related to undercover law-enforcement officers.

2. That the provisions of this act shall become effective on July 1, 2019.
