WHEREAS, the Stone Bridge High School boys' cross country team capped off a stellar 2015 season by winning the Virginia High School League Group 5A state championship; and WHEREAS, the team of seasoned runners from Stone Bridge High School appreciated the 2015 victory all the more after placing third at the state meet in 2014 and being the runner-up in 2013; and WHEREAS, Stone Bridge High School seniors Andrew Matson, Joe Valle, and Jackson Morton placed among the top nine finishers at the title meet, which was held on November 13, 2015, at Great Meadow in The Plains; and WHEREAS, other members of the Stone Bridge High School Bulldogs also contributed to the team's victory; Matthew Sapsara, a junior, finished in 14th place, and determined efforts from Curt Doescher, Keondre Willoughby, and Jack Lynch added to the team's momentum; and WHEREAS, the head coach of the Stone Bridge High School cross country team, Matt Henry, said that the state championship was the result of four years of hard work and attributed the victory in part to the long-term outlook of the senior team members; and WHEREAS, the graduating 12th-graders hope that the talented underclassmen on the Stone Bridge High School cross country team will use the 2015 state title as motivation to continue the school's winning ways; and WHEREAS, the hard-working runners were strongly supported throughout the 2015 season by the coaching staff, their families, friends, and the students and staff at Stone Bridge High School; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Stone Bridge High School boys' cross country team hereby be commended for winning the 2015 Virginia High School League Group 5A state championship; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Matt Henry, head coach of the Stone Bridge High School boys' cross country team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' congratulations and admiration for the team's outstanding performance and championship season. |
