HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 576
Commending Candy Cameron-Arthur.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, May 30, 2018

WHEREAS, Candy Cameron-Arthur, a 911 dispatcher in Fairfax County, went above and beyond in the course of her duties to help save the life of a man in 2017; and

WHEREAS, on July 27, 2017, Candy Cameron-Arthur answered a 911 call from a man threatening to die by suicide; and

WHEREAS, Candy Cameron-Arthur calmly communicated with the man, relayed information to law-enforcement officers, and spoke to the man's mother on a third line; and

WHEREAS, thanks in part to Candy Cameron-Arthur's incredible efforts, the man surrendered peacefully after two and a half hours; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her lifesaving actions, Candy Cameron-Arthur received the Meritorious Action Award from the Fairfax County Department of Public Safety Communications; and

WHEREAS, 911 dispatchers like Candy Cameron-Arthur play a vital role in the community as a critical link between members of the public and first responders; and

WHEREAS, Candy Cameron-Arthur is an exemplar of the professionalism, compassion, and dedication demonstrated by 911 dispatchers in the face of extraordinary circumstances throughout the Commonwealth every day; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Candy Cameron-Arthur hereby be commended for her heroic actions during a crisis situation in July 2017; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Candy Cameron-Arthur as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her exceptional service to Fairfax County.
