Celebrating the life of Crystal Michelle Kestner.

WHEREAS, Crystal Michelle Kestner, a respected educator, accomplished athlete, and beloved member of the Saltville community, died on December 4, 2024; and

WHEREAS, born and raised in Saltville, Crystal Kestner graduated from Northwood High School, where she led the varsity volleyball team to a state championship and the varsity basketball team to a regional championship; and

WHEREAS, Crystal Kestner continued her educational journey by earning bachelor's degrees in both mathematics and computer science from Concord University in 2002, while also excelling with the school's track, basketball, and softball teams throughout all four years of school; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her noteworthy achievements, Crystal Kestner was inducted into the Concord University Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Smyth County Sports Hall of Fame in 2023; and

WHEREAS, in her professional career, Crystal Kestner was a devoted educator at Marion High School and Marion Middle School for many years, teaching algebra and technology and assisting students as both a coach and mentor; and

WHEREAS, Crystal Kestner worked tirelessly in her capacity as an educator and coach to ensure the academic, social, and emotional well-being of her students and to support her colleagues and school; and

WHEREAS, Crystal Kestner was a devoted Christian whose family, faith, compassion, and commitment to service came before all else; and

WHEREAS, Crystal Kestner will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Calvin and Adalyn; her parents, Melvin and Patricia; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Crystal Michelle Kestner, a treasured member of the Saltville community whose kindness, generosity, and dedication inspired all who knew her; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Crystal Michelle Kestner as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
