Celebrating the life of Fielding Lewis Wilson, Jr.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 9, 2024
 

WHEREAS, Fielding Lewis Wilson, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and member of the Stafford County community, died on June 27, 2023; and

WHEREAS, a native of Fredericksburg, Fielding Wilson was educated in Fredericksburg City Public Schools and attended both Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal and the Virginia Military Institute; and

WHEREAS, Fielding Wilson devoted 36 years to the United States government at Fort Belvoir, which took him to many places around the country and the world; and

WHEREAS, Fielding Wilson made his home in a house he built on Potomac Creek and embraced his love for the great outdoors, sharing this passion and reverence for nature with his children and grandson over the years; and

WHEREAS, a successful farmer who raised beef cattle, Fielding Wilson was a regular fixture at the Fredericksburg Livestock Market and a treasured member of the local farming community; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Fielding Wilson enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Andrew Chapel Methodist Church in Stafford for 45 years; and

WHEREAS, Fielding Wilson will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Bettie; his children, Fielding and Sarah, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Fielding Lewis Wilson, Jr., a cherished member of the communities in Stafford County and Fredericksburg who was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew him; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Fielding Lewis Wilson, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
