Commending Sandy Hausman.

WHEREAS, Sandy Hausman joined the Radio IQ news team at WVTF in 2008 after living in Chicago for 30 years, where she worked for NBC and CBS in Chicago and was a radio news anchor, news director, and field producer for ABC TV's Midwest bureau and a contributor for National Public Radio programs; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Hausman serves as the Charlottesville bureau chief for Radio IQ/WVTF, delivering up-to-date news and information on all things relevant to Virginia and its residents; and

WHEREAS, since starting with the outlet, Sandy Hausman has won numerous national and regional accolades for her exceptional and prolific coverage of criminal justice, environmental issues, and research and happenings at the University of Virginia, including awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the Radio Television Digital News Association; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Hausman has reported extensively on various issues around the world, traveling as far as Panama, Ecuador, Indonesia, and Hong Kong for her stories, including features on how the expansion of the Panama Canal will impact the Port of Virginia, what Virginians are doing to protect the Galapagos Islands, and how Virginia wines are selling in Asia; and

WHEREAS, with steadfast dedication to her craft and commitment to the community she serves, Sandy Hausman has become an exemplar of effective reporting in the Charlottesville area; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sandy Hausman hereby be commended for her legacy of service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sandy Hausman as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Charlottesville and the Commonwealth.
