WHEREAS, Katelyn M. Hagen, an intervention specialist at South County Middle School, was named the Fairfax County Public Schools Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee for 2023; and
WHEREAS, in her two years at South County Middle School, Katelyn Hagen has worked to ensure that students at South County Middle School are empowered to be honorable, empathetic, resilient, and dedicated learners; and
WHEREAS, Katelyn Hagen's principle of "Students first, always" is the foundation of her commitment to supporting students' academic success and meeting their behavioral, social, and emotional needs; and
WHEREAS, Katelyn Hagen has built a robust Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework by facilitating data analysis, structuring academic interventions, reinforcing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, and leading programs like Check-In/Check-Out and High Five Partners; and
WHEREAS, Katelyn Hagen collaborates with her fellow educators to identify and remove barriers to learning and to increase access to tools and resources that benefit students; and
WHEREAS, Katelyn Hagen has demonstrated an exceptional ability to bring South County Middle School stakeholders together to explore and implement new ideas and supports for the school's students; and
WHEREAS, Katelyn Hagen is praised for her professionalism and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, community members, and students, allowing her to juggle many essential tasks and priorities and implement new and innovative ideas; and
WHEREAS, Katelyn Hagen is a dedicated member of the Lorton community and engages with students as current and future members of her community, including helping students after they have graduated from South County Middle School get the support they need to thrive; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Katelyn M. Hagen hereby be commended for being named the 2023 Fairfax County Public Schools Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Katelyn M. Hagen as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for her contributions to the Commonwealth.
