WHEREAS, Shamari Earls, a student at Thomas Dale High School in Chester, won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship in the indoor boys' long jump event at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in February 2024; and
WHEREAS, Shamari Earls sealed victory with an impressive leap of 23 feet, 10.75 inches, outjumping the runner-up by nearly two inches; and
WHEREAS, Shamari Earls has also excelled on his school's football team and is a highly touted 4-star recruit for the Class of 2025; and
WHEREAS, a star defensive back, Shamari Earls has received offers from several National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I universities, including the University of Virginia and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and
WHEREAS, Shamari Earls' accomplishments are the result of his hard work and determination, the motivation and guidance of his coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of his family and the entire Thomas Dale High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Shamari Earls hereby be commended for being the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 6 state champion in the indoor long jump event; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Shamari Earls as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievements.
