HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 339
Commending student-guitarists of Loudoun County Public Schools.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 7, 2024
 

WHEREAS, on September 29, 2023, more than 300 student-guitarists of Loudoun County Public Schools participated in a mass guitar performance as part of the World Culture Festival in Washington, D.C.; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) student-guitarists were among a group of 1,000 guitarists who performed "All You Need Is Love" by the Beatles and "We Are One" by Grammy-winning artist Micki Free; and

WHEREAS, the LCPS student-guitarists' performance was the headlining opening act for the World Culture Festival, which showcased the arts and cultures of 180 countries from September 29–October 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, the contingent of LCPS student-guitarists performing at the World Culture Festival included 306 students from River Bend High School, Freedom High School, Dominion High School, Harper Park Middle School, Heritage High School, Loudoun County High School, Riverside High School, Rock Ridge High School, and Stone Hill Middle School; and

WHEREAS, with great skill and dedication, the LCPS student-guitarists have contributed to a meaningful and unifying moment of collective creativity, garnering the praise and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the student-guitarists of Loudoun County Public Schools hereby be commended for their participation in the 2023 World Culture Festival; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to representatives of the student-guitarists of Loudoun County Public Schools who participated in the 2023 World Culture Festival as an expression of the House of Delegates' appreciation for the group's achievement.
