Commending Megan Tucker.

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker, an esteemed educator at Hillsboro Charter Academy in Loudoun County was named the A. Scott Crossfield Aerospace Educator of the Year by the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 2023; and

WHEREAS, named for Scott Crossfield, the renowned pilot and aerospace researcher, Megan Tucker became the 36th recipient of this prestigious award, which was established to recognize teachers for remarkable achievements in aerospace education; and

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker was a foundational member of the faculty at Hillsboro Charter Academy, a Loudoun County public charter school founded in 2016 to emphasize science, technology, education, art, and mathematics (STEAM) education and project-based learning; and

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker serves as a STEAM teacher, dean of curriculum, and instructional facilitator for technology at Hillsboro Charter Academy, where she has developed myriad special programs for the benefit of her students in conjunction with prominent aerospace organizations, including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA), and the Civil Air Patrol (CAP); and

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker works tirelessly to create a learning environment that will ignite her students' curiosity in STEAM and aerospace subjects, cultivate their knowledge and understanding, and motivate them to achieve success both in and out of the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker has helped to train and mentor her colleagues in STEAM and aerospace concepts through teaching workshops and by contributing to the development of new curriculum both locally and nationally; and

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker has also received teacher of the year honors from the National AFA and the CAP and received a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching from the White House and a Foundation Educator Achievement Award from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics; and

WHEREAS, Megan Tucker epitomizes the highest virtues of the education profession through her unwavering dedication to her students and fellow educators, earning the praise and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Megan Tucker hereby be commended for being named the 2023 A. Scott Crossfield Aerospace Educator of the Year by the National Aviation Hall of Fame; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Megan Tucker as an expression of the House of Delegates' appreciation for her efforts to educate and inspire students of the Commonwealth.
