HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 263
Commending the Fontaine Ruritan Club.
 
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2024
 

WHEREAS, the Fontaine Ruritan Club, a local chapter of Ruritan National, Inc., in Martinsville dedicated to bettering its community through fellowship, goodwill, and service, celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2024; and

WHEREAS, on March 26, 1954, the Fontaine Ruritan Club was chartered by the board of directors of Ruritan National, Inc., with 22 charter members on its initial roll; and

WHEREAS, the Fontaine Ruritan Club has greatly supported area youth over the years through various initiatives, including the Ray Martin, Sr., Memorial 4-H Fishing Rodeo and both 4-H camp and education scholarships; and

WHEREAS, the Fontaine Ruritan Club has played a vital role in fighting hunger and promoting public health and wellness in Martinsville by supporting Hunters for the Hungry and other programs; and

WHEREAS, the Fontaine Ruritan Club funds its benevolent efforts in the community through donations and other fundraising activities, which are staffed entirely by volunteers; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Fontaine Ruritan Club are the result of the unwavering commitment of the organization's volunteer members, who have helped to make Martinsville a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Fontaine Ruritan Club hereby be commended for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 70th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Fontaine Ruritan Club as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to Martinsville and the Commonwealth.
