Commending Lane Perry.

WHEREAS, Lane Perry, a highly admired law-enforcement officer who worked for the Henry County Sheriff's Office for three decades, including 17 years of outstanding leadership as sheriff, retired in 2023; and

WHEREAS, Lane Perry joined the Henry County Sheriff's Office in 1993 and worked in various capacities, including at the local jail and in the patrol, investigations, and vice departments over the course of his career; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, Lane Perry was elevated to sheriff only two months after his promotion to captain and played an important role in maintaining stability within the department and building trust with members of the public; and

WHEREAS, Lane Perry was a staunch advocate for his deputies and staff members, ensuring they had the best the tools and training they needed to serve and protect the Henry County community; and

WHEREAS, Lane Perry was a trusted mentor who led by example and guided his deputies to foster good will with local residents by promoting the highest standards of professionalism; and

WHEREAS, Lane Perry oversaw the establishment of the new Henry County Adult Detention Center, and he strove to reduce recidivism by supporting programs that helped inmates reintegrate into society; and

WHEREAS, Lane Perry served the residents of Henry with the utmost integrity, honor, dedication, and distinction; and

WHEREAS, after his well-earned retirement, Lane Perry plans to seek new opportunities to serve his community and spend more time with his wife, Sherry, and their daughters, Amanda and Rachel; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Lane Perry hereby be commended for his service to the residents of Henry County on the occasion of his retirement as sheriff; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lane Perry as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievements as a law-enforcement officer and his contributions to the community.
