WHEREAS, the Women's Center, a nonprofit organization that helps people in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area lead happier, more productive lives through mental health counseling, support services, and education, celebrates the 30th anniversary of its Annual Leadership Conference in 2016; and WHEREAS, for more than 40 years, the Women's Center has worked to improve the psychological, career, financial, and legal well-being of individuals and families, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or ability to pay; and WHEREAS, the Women's Center functions as a teaching institution for mental health professionals and provides one of the most prestigious and competitive training programs in the region; the center is also uniquely suited to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; and WHEREAS, the Women's Center's Annual Leadership Conference is one of the premier leadership conferences in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and gives participants and attendees the opportunity to achieve leadership development, marketing, and corporate responsibility goals; and WHEREAS, the Women's Center's Annual Leadership Conference features speakers and panels on a wide variety of issues, ranging from effective communication to life balance, as well as concurrent sessions on unique topics and networking opportunities; and WHEREAS, the Women's Center hosts its 2016 Annual Leadership Conference on April 9, 2016, at the McLean Hilton in Tysons Corner; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Women's Center hereby be commended on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its Annual Leadership Conference; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Women's Center as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its work to increase the quality of life of all Northern Virginia residents. |
