WHEREAS, Richard B. Byrd is a loyal servant of the Commonwealth, who has dedicated decades of his life to the betterment of Bath County; and WHEREAS, Richard Byrd served as a member of the Bath County Board of Supervisors for 20 years; elected as the vice chair five times and as the chair six times, he provided exceptional leadership to the board; and WHEREAS, as the director of Bath County Emergency Services for 12 years and a member of the emergency planning committee for four years, Richard Byrd helped safeguard Bath County by coordinating preparedness and response between local agencies and providing safety information to the public; and WHEREAS, Richard Byrd worked hard to promote strong families and communities in Bath County by serving for eight years on the Board of Social Services; and WHEREAS, today, Richard Byrd continues his record of service by advocating for the well-being of the older residents of Bath County as a 15-year member of the Bath County Retirement Home Committee; and WHEREAS, Richard Byrd is an exemplar of the integrity and the dedication to duty displayed by local elected officials throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Richard B. Byrd hereby be commended on his decades of outstanding public service in Bath County; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Richard B. Byrd as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his consistent leadership and many valued contributions to Bath County and the Commonwealth. |
