WHEREAS, Nora Mehadi, a student at Patriot High School in Prince William County and a talented author, published a young adult fiction novel, Rewrite, in 2023; and
WHEREAS, Nora Mehadi developed a passion for writing stories at a young age and began work on what became her first novel, Rewrite, during the summer before she started eighth grade; and
WHEREAS, after matriculating at Patriot High School, Nora Mehadi was inspired by her journalism teacher, Aleda Weathers, and her literature teacher, Andrea Yarbough, to continue improving her writing skills, and she began to revisit Rewrite during her high school years; and
WHEREAS, Rewrite follows a group of six high school students who become suspects in a murder investigation during their sophomore year of high school and unravel a mystery that spans across three different timelines; the coming of age story reflects Nora Mehadi's own introspection in her childhood, and the writing process helped her learn more about herself as she grew along with the narrative; and
WHEREAS, currently a senior at Patriot High School, Nora Mehadi has long been involved with the student newspaper and was selected as editor-in-chief; she also established a tutoring club to help mentor and inspire local elementary students and is a member of the Girl Scouts of the USA; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Nora Mehadi hereby be commended on the publication of her first book, Rewrite, in 2023; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nora Mehadi as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her achievements and best wishes for the future.
