HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 938
Commending Charles Maurice Robinson.

WHEREAS, Charles Maurice Robinson, a retired Virginia State Police officer, served the Commonwealth with great diligence and distinction for over three decades; and

WHEREAS, Charles Maurice "Robbie" Robinson became a member of the Virginia State Police on February 15, 1957, and worked diligently to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth and to protect and serve Virginia's citizens; and

WHEREAS, well liked and respected by his fellow officers and recognized by his superiors for his leadership and managerial skills, Robbie Robinson was promoted to sergeant in 1969, lieutenant in 1973, captain in 1976, major in 1978, and lieutenant colonel in 1986; and

WHEREAS, in 1976 Robbie Robinson became the first captain for the newly formed Training Division; and

WHEREAS, throughout an outstanding career, Robbie Robinson served his fellow citizens and the Commonwealth with great integrity and devotion to duty until his retirement in August 1994; and

WHEREAS, Robbie Robinson resides in Chesterfield and continues to share his historical knowledge, serving on the 70th Anniversary Committee, the Museum Committee, and the 75th Anniversary Committee of the Virginia State Police; he also designed the Virginia State Police Seal now in use; and

WHEREAS, the sterling reputation enjoyed to this day by the Virginia State Police is based in great part on the hard work of its dedicated officers like Robbie Robinson; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Charles Maurice Robinson for his outstanding service to the citizens of the Commonwealth as a Virginia State Police officer; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Charles Maurice Robinson as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration, respect, and gratitude.
