WHEREAS, Thomas Stewart Belcher, an active member of the Hampton community, died on January 12, 2015; and WHEREAS, Thomas Belcher honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970; and WHEREAS, Thomas Belcher served and safeguarded members of the Hampton community as a medic and firefighter with the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue; and WHEREAS, as a member of Hampton Holiness Chapel, Thomas Belcher served on his church's leadership team and was recognized as an exceptional servant and leader, whose life was a testimony to the power of God; and WHEREAS, Thomas Belcher's love for family is reflected in his 26-year marriage to Debra Belcher, an employee of the General Assembly from 2006 to 2013; and WHEREAS, in his free time, Thomas Belcher was an avid sportsman and fan of both NASCAR and the Washington Redskins; and WHEREAS, Thomas Belcher will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Debra; daughter, Michelle Garrett; granddaughters, Ashley and Kayleigh Toth; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Thomas Stewart Belcher; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Thomas Stewart Belcher as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory. |
