WHEREAS, the W. T. Woodson High School Deaf Academic Bowl team finished in third place at the Southeast Regional Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students in 2016; and WHEREAS, the Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students was established by Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., to promote academic competition and sportsmanship in the pursuit of academic excellence; and WHEREAS, after finishing in third place in the regional tournament, the W. T. Woodson High School Deaf Academic Bowl team earned a trip to the national finals of the Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students at Gallaudet University in April 2016 as a wild card team; and WHEREAS, the W. T. Woodson High School Deaf Academic Bowl is made up of Krishna Barua, Greyson Horn, Irene Paek, and Angela Rogers; in the regional tournament, team captain Angela Rogers received the All-Star Player award; and WHEREAS, the victory is a testament to the skill and dedication of the students, the leadership of the team's coaches and advisers, and the enthusiastic support of the entire W. T. Woodson High School community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the W. T. Woodson High School Deaf Academic Bowl team on finishing third at the Southeast Regional Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the W. T. Woodson High School Deaf Academic Bowl team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the future. |
