WHEREAS, Daniel Price of Mechanicsville, a dedicated Virginia Department of Health employee and respected citizen, died on September 7, 2010; and WHEREAS, a native of Warrenton, Daniel "Duke" Price was born on November 11, 1950, to loving parents Charles and Doris Price and was one of three siblings; and WHEREAS, a graduate of Stafford Senior High School, Duke Price received a bachelor's degree from Mary Washington College; he went on to receive a master's degree and doctoral degree from the University of Virginia in 2003 and 2006, respectively; and WHEREAS, a valued and hard-working employee, Duke Price worked on behalf of the people of the Commonwealth at the Virginia Department of Health for the past 35 years, where he was valued by his colleagues for his experience and good nature; and WHEREAS, Duke Price generously gave of his time and talents to help local youth as the tennis coach for the girls' tennis teams at both Chickahominy Middle School and Atlee High School; he also served as a board member at Burkwood Swim and Racquet Club; and WHEREAS, a devoted parent, Duke Price was involved in his daughter's schools, serving as PTA president for several years as well as serving on several school advisory committees; and WHEREAS, Duke Price had a strong faith that was evident in how he lived his life and served as an active member of the Mechanicsville Christian Center; and WHEREAS, a man of many interests and friends, Duke Price enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, camping, attending University of Virginia sporting events, and spending quality time with loved ones; and WHEREAS, Duke Price brought great joy to his family and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Ingrid; son, Bill and his family; daughter, Danielle; and numerous other family members, friends, and admirers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with sadness the loss of a dedicated Virginia Department of Health employee and respected citizen, Daniel Price; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Daniel Price as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory. |
