HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 508
Commending Richard Parker.

WHEREAS, Richard Parker, who has ably served the members of the Falls Church community as a city employee for 30 years, retires in December 2016 as director of the Falls Church Human Resources Division; and

WHEREAS, Richard Parker began his career with the City of Falls Church in December 1985 as the risk management and benefits manager; and

WHEREAS, Richard Parker has also served local residents as a member of numerous boards and organizations; he served as the administrator of the city's retirement funds, ensuring that employee retirement plans remained well funded; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Richard Parker initiated wellness activities for his fellow city employees, and he was nominated as Employee of the Year in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Richard Parker became director of the Falls Church Human Resources Division in 1997; he earned the trust and respect of his employees for his leadership style, and his long institutional knowledge was a critical asset to the city; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Richard Parker on the occasion of his retirement as director of the Falls Church Human Resources Division; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Richard Parker as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his service to the City of Falls Church.
