WHEREAS, George C. Peyton, Jr., has completed 24 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Retail Merchants Association; and WHEREAS, George Peyton was instrumental in the development of the Virginia Retail Federation, the partnership of the Retail Merchants Association and the Retail Alliance of Hampton Roads; and WHEREAS, George Peyton effectively advocated on behalf of the Virginia Retail Federation for 18 years; and WHEREAS, George Peyton assisted the Retail Merchants Association in the establishment of Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers and served as president of the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers board of directors, consistently recognizing the public safety professionals serving the Richmond Metropolitan area; and WHEREAS, George Peyton served on the Litter Control and Recycling Fund Advisory Board for the Commonwealth, appointed for two terms by Governors Timothy M. Kaine and Robert F. McDonnell; and WHEREAS, George Peyton served on the program committee for the League of Women Voters, as a volunteer to the Boy Scouts of America, as a past president of the Miller & Rhoads Credit Union, and as a former member of the RideFinders Advisory Board; and WHEREAS, George Peyton served his country as a member of the United States Air Force as a 1st Class Airman; and WHEREAS, George Peyton is a proud and honorable son, husband, father, and grandfather to his 13 grandchildren; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend George C. Peyton, Jr., on his 24 years of service to the Retail Merchants Association and the Virginia Retail Federation; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to George C. Peyton, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his commitment to retail business in the Commonwealth and dedicated community service. |
