HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 49
Commending Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 15, 2016
Agreed to by the Senate, January 21, 2016

WHEREAS, Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2015; and

WHEREAS, Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 held its first meeting under the dispensation of the Grand Lodge of Virginia and was formally chartered on December 13, 1865; and

WHEREAS, at the time of its founding, Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 elected as officers Worshipful Master T.J. Drumwright, Senior Warden Dr. O.H. Baird, and Junior Warden John C. Morris; and

WHEREAS, Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 supports numerous civic and charitable organizations in the community, such as the National Child ID Program and blood drives by the American Red Cross; and

WHEREAS, Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 commemorated its 150th anniversary with the Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, Most Worshipful James Edward Litten at the Virginia Diner in Wakefield on December 16, 2015; and

WHEREAS, during its anniversary year, Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 was led by Worshipful Master William E. Allmond III, Senior Warden David G. Henson, Junior Warden Michael T. Eggleston, Treasurer Kevin Matthews, Secretary John D. O'Berry, Senior Deacon Stevie Ezzell, Junior Deacon Martin Carter, Chaplain Tom Reese, and Tiler Ken Grover; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 on the occasion of its historic 150th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Wakefield Masonic Lodge No. 198 as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's service to the Wakefield community and best wishes for future success.
