HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 430
Celebrating the life of Officer Ashley Marie Guindon.

WHEREAS, Officer Ashley Marie Guindon, a law-enforcement officer in Prince William County who was driven by her duty to protect and serve the community, died in the line of duty on February 27, 2016; and

WHEREAS, a native of Springfield, Massachusetts, Officer Guindon grew up in Merrimack, New Hampshire; she served her country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Forces Reserve, where she trained as a radio operator and earned many accolades for her service; and

WHEREAS, Officer Guindon earned a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2010 and attended the Joint Mortuary Affairs Center at Fort Lee; she relocated to the Commonwealth while pursuing graduate studies in forensics and interned with the Prince William County Police Department in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Officer Guindon graduated from the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy with Session 36 in 2015; she earned the respect of her peers for her intelligence, compassion, and dedication to duty; and

WHEREAS, Officer Guindon made the ultimate sacrifice on February 27, 2016, while on her first shift with the Prince William County Police Department, having been officially sworn in as member of the department the previous evening; and

WHEREAS, Officer Guindon will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members and friends and her fellow public safety officers in Prince William County and throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Officer Ashley Marie Guindon, a devoted law-enforcement officer; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Officer Ashley Marie Guindon as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
