WHEREAS, Sean McMurray of Abingdon, an admired and accomplished leader in Southwest Virginia who serves as chief executive officer of the Northeast Market for the Mountain States Health Alliance System, has contributed to the betterment of his community in many ways; and WHEREAS, Sean McMurray, a respected administrator in the health care field for more than 27 years, has been vice president/chief executive officer of Johnston Memorial Hospital for more than 12 years, and previously worked at hospitals in Tennessee; and WHEREAS, in 2016, Sean McMurray was a recipient of the inaugural Donald R. Jeanes Humanitarian Leadership Award for his outstanding leadership; he was honored by Mountain States Health Alliance for leading by example, inspiring others to do their best, serving with compassion and integrity, and striving for the highest quality service to patients and the community; and WHEREAS, Sean McMurray received the Servant's Heart Award in 2013 from the Mountain States Health Alliance System—the healthcare organization's most prestigious honor; he was recognized for his caring attitude toward all team members, compassion for patients and staff, and for being an outstanding model of patient-centered care; and WHEREAS; an active leader in the community and his church, Sean McMurray has contributed his time and talents to numerous organizations, including Barter Theatre, several Rotary clubs, the Boy Scouts of America, United Way Southwest Virginia, the American Heart Association, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; and WHEREAS, Sean McMurray, who is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, has also been involved in health care governance on a statewide level as a member of the executive committee and the services board of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association; and WHEREAS, Sean McMurray is lay leader with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; his commitment to serving others and his church guides his life; later in 2016, he will leave his current position with Mountain States Health Alliance to become president of a Mormon mission in Fort Collins, Colorado, supervising and mentoring several hundred young missionaries; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Sean McMurray of Abindgon for his many years of devoted service to the people of Southwest Virginia; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sean McMurray as an expression of the General Assembly's respect and admiration for his dedicated work and many contributions to his community and the Commonwealth, and best wishes for the future. |
