HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 378
Celebrating the life of John Joseph Brush, M.D.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2016
Agreed to by the Senate, March 10, 2016

WHEREAS, John Joseph Brush, M.D., a medical professional who touched countless lives throughout his career and a highly admired member of the Richmond community, died on October 23, 2013; and

WHEREAS, a native of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, John "Jack" Joseph Brush earned a bachelor's degree and a medical degree from Marquette University, then completed an internship at Milwaukee County General Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Jack Brush honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy, rising to the rank of commander, before completing his residency at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV), now known as the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine; and

WHEREAS, Jack Brush worked at MCV Hospitals for several years, earning the respect of his peers and patients for his compassion, medical expertise, and commitment to serving others; in 1981, he joined Neurological Associates in Richmond, where he practiced until his well-earned retirement in 2013; and

WHEREAS, well known in the medical field, Jack Brush was a lifelong member of the Virginia Neurological Society, the Richmond Academy of Medicine, and the Medical Society of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jack Brush is fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 45 years, Judy; children, Jack, Jr., Jeannie, and Billy, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of John Joseph Brush, M.D., a respected medical professional and devoted friend to many in the Richmond community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of John Joseph Brush, M.D., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
