WHEREAS, the Atlee High School girls' outdoor track and field team won the Virginia High School League Group 5A state championship in June 2015; and WHEREAS, in their second consecutive state final appearance, the Atlee High School Raiders earned an impressive 68 points, besting runner-up Hampton High School by 14 points; and WHEREAS, the Atlee High School Raiders dominated the second day of the competition, with senior Carly Feyerabend taking first place in the 100-meter hurdles and second place in the high jump; and WHEREAS, senior India Lowe took second place in the 100-meter hurdles and first place in the 300-meter hurdles, continuing her long undefeated streak in that event, and senior Chloe Bavin placed third in the 1,600-meter run; and WHEREAS, the victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of the student-athletes, the leadership of the coaches and staff, and the enthusiastic support of the entire Atlee High School community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Atlee High School girls' outdoor track and field team on winning the Virginia High School League Group 5A state championship; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jim Triemplar, head coach of the Atlee High School girls' outdoor track and field team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the future. |
