WHEREAS, Kadyn Camper of Christiansburg won the national championship in the 2015 National Football League Punt, Pass & Kick competition in the eight-year-old and nine-year-old girls' division, with a winning distance of 214 feet, 7 inches; and WHEREAS, Kadyn Camper, who is nine years old, has been competing in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick (PPK) program for several years; the youth sports program is a national skills competition for boys and girls ages six to 15 who compete individually against their peers; and WHEREAS, Kadyn Camper won the national PPK contest on January 2, 2016, in Indianapolis with a personal best effort, punting 76 feet, 10 inches; passing 65 feet, 11 inches; and finishing with a kick of 71 feet, 10 inches; and WHEREAS, the national finals of the PPK contest took place the day before the Indianapolis Colts played the Tennessee Titans; Kadyn Camper and the other PPK champions were recognized during the second half of the NFL game, which was held on January 3, 2016; and WHEREAS, since 2012, Kadyn Camper has been participating in the PPK program; she has won first place in her division at the Washington Redskins team championships for four consecutive years, and her scores were high enough in 2014 and in 2015 to advance to the national finals; and WHEREAS, Kadyn Camper, who is in the fourth grade at Dayspring Christian Academy, is featured on her own football card for her winning effort; she handily won PPK contests at the local and sectional levels, and won the team-level competition on November 29, 2015, at the Washington Redskins' FedEx Field, before advancing to the national finals; and WHEREAS, consistent hard work was the key to Kadyn Camper's victory; she practices with her father, who fields her passes and kicks, and the pair now work out at a nearby football field after the young champion's kicks were consistently landing beyond their own yard; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Kadyn Camper for winning the 2015 National Football League Punt, Pass & Kick Competition in the eight-year-old and nine-year-old girls' division; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kadyn Camper as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for her outstanding accomplishment. |
