WHEREAS, Susan Jane Redford, a highly admired civic leader in Colonial Heights, died on January 27, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Susan Redford began her career with the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, then took time off to raise her family; and
WHEREAS, Susan Redford returned to the work force as an employee of the City of Colonial Heights and went on to serve local residents with dedication and distinction for the next three decades; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure in local government, Susan Redford served in the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue and the Registrar's Office, then was appointed as General Registrar of Colonial Heights from 2007 to 2018; and
WHEREAS, outside of her career, Susan Redford enjoyed birdwatching and spending time on the beach in the Outer Banks, and as a member of the Hooked on Hallmark Committed Collectors Club, she was an avid collector of keepsakes and ornaments; and
WHEREAS, a woman of deep faith, Susan Redford enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Ettrick United Methodist Church, where she offered her leadership to several church boards; and
WHEREAS, predeceased by her beloved partner, Jimmy Parrish, Susan Redford will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Jennifer and Brandy, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Susan Jane Redford; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Susan Jane Redford as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
