HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 2
Commending Steve Sherwood.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 15, 2010
Agreed to by the Senate, January 21, 2010

WHEREAS, Steve Sherwood, a graduate of Tabb High School, is commended for his selection as the Daily Press All-Star Boys Player of the Year while a senior at Tabb High School; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sherwood played four years on the Tabb varsity basketball team, where his hard work and dedication were an example to others; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sherwood averaged 3.9 points as a freshman, 15.8 points as a sophomore, 17.8 points as a junior, and a district-leading 19.1 points as a senior; he also averaged 6.5 rebounds as a senior; and

WHEREAS, a fierce competitor, Steve Sherwood helped lead the Tigers to three Bay Rivers District titles, a district tournament championship, and two state tournament berths; and 

WHEREAS, a talented athlete, Steve Sherwood scored more than 20 points 34 times during his basketball career at Tabb High School; and

WHEREAS, recognized for his excellent high school performance, Steve Sherwood will continue his basketball career at Hampden-Sydney College; and

WHEREAS, Steve Sherwood's determination, commitment, and talent during his high school basketball career led to his deserving nomination and award as the Daily Press All-Star Boys Player of the Year; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Steve Sherwood for his selection as the Daily Press All-Star Boys Player of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Steve Sherwood as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his accomplishments.
