Commending Columbia Gas of Virginia.

WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Virginia, which serves tens of thousands of residential, commercial, and industrial clients by providing the energy they rely upon every day, traces its roots in the Commonwealth back more than 175 years; and

WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Virginia is one of the oldest utilities currently operating in the Commonwealth, and some of its predecessor companies were in service in the Commonwealth as early as 1847; and

WHEREAS, as one of the leading energy providers in the Commonwealth, Columbia Gas of Virginia serves more than 290,000 customers in 98 counties, cities, and towns through the hard work and dedication of its frontline utility workers and other employees; and

WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Virginia employs more than 450 utility workers, who are committed to fulfilling the company's mission to deliver safe and reliable energy to those customers; and

WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Virginia's frontline utility workers and employees ensure that customers have the energy they rely upon every day in a variety of ways, from turning on service for a new homeowner to simply taking the time to listen to customers and answer their questions; and

WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Virginia's frontline utility workers and employees have worked diligently to provide peace of mind and address the needs of customers in a timely and efficient manner during emergency situations; and

WHEREAS, Columbia Gas of Virginia recognizes the accomplishments and service of its frontline utility workers and employees on Natural Gas Utility Workers' Day, which takes place every year on March 18; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Columbia Gas of Virginia for its legacy of more than 175 years of service to Virginians; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Columbia Gas of Virginia as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's long history of service to communities throughout the Commonwealth.
