HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 155
Commending Joshua Drury.

WHEREAS, Joshua Drury, a master officer in the James City County Police Department who is a member of the SWAT team and an outstanding role model and mentor to new officers, was named Officer of the Year for 2015; and

WHEREAS, as he was growing up in Newport News, Joshua "Josh" Drury, made a conscious choice to live the type of life where he could do good and help others; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Warwick High School and Saint Leo University, Josh Drury entered law enforcement; he was a member of the police force at Thomas Nelson Community College for one year before joining the James City County Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Josh Drury was honored by the James City County Police Department for the exceptional service he provides and the example he sets for fellow law enforcement professionals; he is an active member of the SWAT team, firearms instructor, and field training officer; and

WHEREAS, one of Josh Drury's recent accomplishments was to meticulously research and assemble information the James City County Police Department needed to make an informed decision about new handgun purchases; he also has been involved in many areas of SWAT team operations; and

WHEREAS, Josh Drury, who is a member of the Patrol Officer Advisory Committee, continues to maintain a high degree of effectiveness when he is on patrol; he has a strong work ethic, pays close attention to detail, and has earned great respect from his peers; and

WHEREAS, demonstrating a strong commitment to his community, Josh Drury often helps those who are less fortunate; when a local church donated 14 Thanksgiving dinners, he drove into the community to distribute the food to those who needed a nourishing meal; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Joshua Drury, a master officer in the James City County Police Department, for being named Officer of the Year for 2015; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joshua Drury as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and admiration for his outstanding work to protect and serve the people and businesses of James City County.
