HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 154
Commending Damon S. Radcliffe.

WHEREAS, Damon S. Radcliffe, a highly regarded law enforcement officer for the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office, was honored as the 2015 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers is a citizen-based organization that provides an anonymous, non-threatening way to report criminal activity; the group provides a telephone tip line for the public to use to contact local law enforcement officials; and

WHEREAS, a native of Denbigh, Damon Radcliffe knew when he was just three years old that he wanted to be a law enforcement officer; he has been involved in policing for more than 15 years in the City of Williamsburg, the City of Poquoson, and York County; and

WHEREAS, Damon Radcliffe is a deputy first class with the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office, where he has worked to protect and serve for more than seven years; previously, he was a police officer for The College of William and Mary and the City of Williamsburg; and

WHEREAS, as a senior deputy, Damon Radcliffe works 12-hour rotating shifts, patrolling throughout York County; he also is a member of the department's emergency response team and is a field training officer; and

WHEREAS, other community activities that benefit from Damon Radcliffe's involvement and contributions are the annual Police Unity Tour, a three-day bicycle trek to honor law-enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, and he also is a supporter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Damon S. Radcliffe for being named the 2015 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by Virginia Peninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Damon S. Radcliffe as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations and respect for his tireless efforts to protect and serve the people of York County, the City of Poquoson, and the City of Williamsburg.
