WHEREAS, the Yorktown ReStore, a nonprofit establishment operated by Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg, celebrated its grand opening on May 6, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg opened the Yorktown ReStore after seeing tremendous results at its two other ReStore locations in Newport News and Williamsburg, which rank among the top 25 ReStores in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg previously operated a ReStore drop-off center in Yorktown and has established the Yorktown ReStore to broaden the organization's impact in the region; and
WHEREAS, the Yorktown ReStore supports the community by offering a variety of new and gently used goods donated by the public, including furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more, for considerably less than their original retail price; and
WHEREAS, the proceeds from the Yorktown ReStore help to fund Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg's efforts to construct affordable homes for qualifying families in need; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Yorktown ReStore are the product of the generosity of its donors, the hard work of its staff, and the devotion of the many volunteers who strive to advance the organization's charitable ambitions; and
WHEREAS, the Yorktown ReStore will undoubtedly build on Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg's beneficent efforts in the region, making Yorktown a more wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Yorktown ReStore on the occasion of its grand opening; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Yorktown ReStore as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the store's mission and best wishes for its success.
