HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 103
Commending the Honorable M.B. Clark.

WHEREAS, the Honorable M.B. Clark, an accomplished insurance broker, community leader, and dedicated public servant, has greatly served his community as the York County director on the Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, the Honorable M.B. "George" Clark was elected to the Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board of Directors in 2019, an organization tasked with protecting the environment and natural resources in Charles City, James City, New Kent, and York Counties and the City of Williamsburg; and

WHEREAS, George Clark's accomplishments with the SWCD included establishing a shoreline resiliency program for York County homeowners that both improved the quality of area waterways and generated more than a half million dollars for York County citizens; and

WHEREAS, George Clark, through his efforts with the SWCD, has helped grow the bald eagle population in the communities on and around the York River; and

WHEREAS, George Clark has served thousands of youth in the Commonwealth as a board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula since 2000, and he currently serves as the organization's vice chair; and

WHEREAS, George Clark has worked tirelessly to support area youth through various initiatives and fundraising endeavors, including leading efforts to bring the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the YMCA to York County; and

WHEREAS, George Clark has received numerous accolades in recognition of his efforts on behalf of the community, including a National Service to Youth Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2011; and

WHEREAS, George Clark has worked with entities at the federal, state, and local level to advance health care reform that benefits both individuals and small and medium-sized businesses; and

WHEREAS, through his steadfast commitment to helping others, George Clark has helped to make York County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Honorable M.B. Clark for his service as York County director on the Colonial Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable M.B. Clark as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth.
