A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 63.2 a section numbered 63.2-916, relating to foster care record; retention and destruction.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 9 of Title 63.2 a section numbered 63.2-916 as follows:

§63.2-916. Retention and destruction of records; foster care.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Commissioner shall preserve all records related to foster care cases for a period of 22 years from the date of birth of the child who is the subject of the foster care case.
