HOUSE BILL NO. 1474 Offered January 19, 2024 A BILL to direct the Virginia Code Commission to convene a work group to recommend exemptions from the Dam Safety Act for certain low hazard potential impounding structures. ---------- Patron-- Batten ---------- Committee Referral Pending ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. That the Virginia Code Commission shall convene a work group, including representatives of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Virginia Association of Counties, the Virginia Municipal League, and other relevant stakeholders to recommend exemptions from the requirements of the Dam Safety Act (§10.1-604 et seq.) for low hazard potential impounding structures where failure is not expected to cause loss of human life or material economic damage. The Virginia Code Commission shall submit a report to the Chairmen of the House Committee on General Laws and the Senate Committee on General Laws and Technology summarizing the work and any recommendations of the work group by November 1, 2024.
