AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 2.2-3301.1, relating to special days; Indigenous Peoples Day.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 2.2-3301.1 as follows:

§2.2-3301.1. Indigenous Peoples Day.

The fourth Wednesday in November of each year shall be recognized and celebrated as Indigenous Peoples Day throughout the Commonwealth to honor the great leaders of indigenous peoples who contributed to the history of the Commonwealth.
