SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 978
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the many accomplishments of Ronald N. McMillan upon his
  retirement from Time Warner Cable; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. McMillan most recently served as vice
  president of Government Relations for the cable company's Texas
  Region; and
         WHEREAS, Before assuming that position, Mr. McMillan was
  president of the company's Houston Division and supervised the
  provision of video, high-speed Internet, and digital phone
  service to Houston area customers; prior to joining Time Warner
  Cable in Texas, he served as general manager of the Time Warner
  Cable system in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime contributor to the betterment of the
  Houston community, Mr. McMillan served as chairman of the board
  of the Houston Museum of Natural Science and of the Make-A-Wish
  Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast, Incorporated; he is currently
  chairman of the board of the Better Business Bureau of the Texas
  Gulf Coast; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic civic leader previously served, at
  the request of Governor Rick Perry, on both the Texas Department
  of Transportation Right-of-Way Advisory Committee and a state
  economic advisory committee; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. McMillan earned his bachelor's degree from
  Howard Payne University, which recognized him in 2002 as Alumni
  of the Year; he also undertook graduate studies at Stanford
  University and East Texas State University; and
         WHEREAS, Ron McMillan is a proud native of the Lone Star
  State, and his many charitable works and his illustrious career
  in the Texas cable industry are indeed worthy of praise; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED,
   
 
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  Ron McMillan as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
