| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Charles Bryan Isbell on the grand occasion of his 72nd | ||
| birthday, on June 24, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Charlie Isbell was born June 24, 1939, in Anna, | ||
| Texas; he graduated from Corsicana High School and from the | ||
| American Institute of Banking in Dallas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Isbell began his career at Winnwood State Bank | ||
| in Dallas, and at the age of 29 he became president of Hillside | ||
| National Bank; he and his family moved to Brownsville in 1970; he | ||
| operated Isbell Seafood for 12 years and was the charter | ||
| president of Brownsville National Bank; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Isbell founded Bingo Gardens, Incorporated, | ||
| in 1983 and later expanded his company to Harlingen, McAllen, | ||
| Weslaco, and Laredo; local charities have received more than $20 | ||
| million through their participation in Charitable Bingo; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Charlie has been blessed with three children and | ||
| five grandchildren; he is a highly successful businessman and | ||
| community leader who is well known for his philanthropic | ||
| activities; he has donated generously to such causes as | ||
| Brownsville Independent School District scholarships, the | ||
| Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility, the Alhambra Crippled | ||
| Children's Foundation, and the Moody Clinic and has donated land | ||
| for the construction of a child development center; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Isbell is an exemplary citizen and is greatly | ||
| admired for his many contributions to the Brownsville community; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Charles Bryan | ||
| Isbell on his leadership in the Brownsville community and his | ||
| many philanthropic endeavors and extend to him best wishes on the | ||
| occasion of his 72nd birthday; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
