| Rachel Littlejohn-Diebel | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Beeville in mourning the loss of the Honorable Rachel | ||
| Littlejohn-Diebel, who died December 24, 2014, at the age of 92; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This distinguished lady was born on June 14, 1922, | ||
| in Wellingborough, England; she began studying medicine at | ||
| Cambridge University, and she left school to work for the British | ||
| Military Intelligence during World War II; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She married Lacy Littlejohn in 1946, and they soon | ||
| moved to Texas to attend Baylor Law School; after earning their | ||
| degrees, they settled in Beeville with their two children, and | ||
| Mrs. Littlejohn did legal work in the community before becoming a | ||
| high school mathematics instructor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She was elected to the bench for the 156th | ||
| District Court in 1974 and presided over the court until her | ||
| retirement in 1994; during her tenure, she became a Life Fellow | ||
| of the Texas Bar Foundation; her husband passed away in 1986; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She married Edwin Diebel in 1999, with whom she | ||
| shared immeasurable happiness; she was a loving wife, mother, and | ||
| grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will long be | ||
| cherished by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of the Honorable Rachel Littlejohn-Diebel; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Rachel Littlejohn-Diebel. | ||
