| WHEREAS, On March 31, 2017, at 6:38 p.m., the prayers of | ||
| Jeff Hassay and Sarah Lehrer-Graiwer, as well as those of their | ||
| family and friends, were answered with the birth of a healthy | ||
| baby girl, Zooey Maybellene Sophia Lehrer-Hassay; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Calling to mind the Dr. Seuss quote, "A person's a | ||
| person, no matter how small," Zooey weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, | ||
| and measured 21-1/2 inches in length when she made her | ||
| long-awaited arrival; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Zooey's birth has brought great happiness not only | ||
| to her parents but to her grandparents, Andrew and Nancy Hassay | ||
| and Jonathan and Shelah Lehrer-Graiwer, and to her many aunts, | ||
| uncles, and other relatives; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Both Jeff and Sarah are avid readers, so it is | ||
| only fitting to share the following parenting advice, frequently | ||
| attributed to Albert Einstein: "If you want your children to be | ||
| intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more | ||
| intelligent, read them more fairy tales"; and | ||
| WHEREAS, It is also wise to remember that, as J. D. Salinger | ||
| famously said, "A child is a guest in the house, to be loved and | ||
| respected--never possessed, since he belongs to God"; moreover, | ||
| as Mark Twain wrote, we should "note that venerable proverb: | ||
| Children and fools always speak the truth. The deduction is | ||
| plain--adults and wise persons never speak it"; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Zooey Lehrer-Hassay has already won the hearts of | ||
| all who have met her, and it is truly a pleasure to welcome this | ||
| fine young lady as an honorary Texan; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby congratulate Jeff Hassay and Sarah | ||
| Lehrer-Graiwer on the birth of their daughter and extend to Zooey | ||
| Maybellene Sophia Lehrer-Hassay warmest best wishes for a bright | ||
| and promising future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the family as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
