SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 927
In Memory
of
Gloria Rodriguez
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of Gloria Rodriguez, who died May 22, 2017,
at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, Gloria Rodriguez was born April 4, 1928; she lived
for many years in Hebbronville, where she was a member of Our Lady
of Guadalupe Catholic Church; in her later years, she moved to
Bastrop, where she attended Ascension Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, the late Guadalupe
Rodriguez, enjoyed 35 years of marriage together; they were
blessed with eight children and many grandchildren, who were a
source of much pride and joy for her; and
WHEREAS, A devout Catholic who practiced her faith in her
daily life, Mrs. Rodriguez was active in a wide range of
ministries, including the Secular Franciscan Order, Cursillista,
the Altar Society, the Guadalupana Society, and the Homebound
Ministry; she also served as a Mass lector and as an
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion; and
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, grace, and compassion, she
gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, her generous spirit,
and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
forgotten; and
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
family of Gloria Rodriguez; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
memory of Gloria Rodriguez.
