SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 921
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Fred Davis III, who is retiring as principal of David
  W. Carter High School in Dallas after a distinguished 43-year
  career in education; and
         WHEREAS, A second-generation educator, Fred Davis began
  his career in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he taught physical
  education and served as a coach on a state championship football
  team; he joined the Dallas Independent School District in 1984 as
  a teacher, coach, and athletic director at A. Maceo Smith High
  School, where he served for 15 years; and
         WHEREAS, He moved into school administration in 1999 when he
  joined Samuell High School and served as assistant principal; he
  went on to serve as principal at John B. Hood Middle School before
  becoming principal at David W. Carter High School in 2011; under
  his leadership, the school dramatically improved its academic
  rating, and he introduced the "No Bell" system, which has since
  been adopted by numerous other schools in the district; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, he has been noted
  for his teambuilding, research, and leadership development
  skills; he has played a vital role in helping countless students
  prepare to face the challenges of an ever-changing global
  society; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, he is
  respected and admired by his colleagues and students alike, and
  his presence at David W. Carter High School will be greatly
  missed; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Fred Davis III on his commitment to
  excellence in education and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
