Mauricio G. Flores | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens | ||
of San Benito in mourning the loss of Mauricio G. Flores, who died | ||
on January 18, 2017, at the age of 91; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mauricio Flores was born on January 28, 1925; he | ||
was a lifelong resident of San Benito and beloved throughout the | ||
community for his kindness, his wise counsel, and his tireless | ||
service to others; and | ||
WHEREAS, As a young man of 18 years, Mauricio Flores was | ||
called to defend his country in the Second World War; he joined the | ||
United States Navy, and he served with distinction as a gunner on | ||
the USS Massachusetts for three years in the South Pacific; and | ||
WHEREAS, After his military service, Mr. Flores had a | ||
rewarding career as a technician with the IBM Corporation; he | ||
expressed his unfailing loyalty to his country and his fellow | ||
veterans as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he | ||
served as a Color Guard at funeral services for fallen veterans; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of deep spiritual devotion, Mr. Flores was a | ||
member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and | ||
Saint Benedict's Catholic Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mauricio Flores was a devoted husband, father, | ||
and grandfather and a revered member of his community; he leaves | ||
behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were | ||
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Mauricio G. Flores; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Mauricio G. Flores. | ||
