SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 86
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Mauricio G. Flores
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
  of San Benito in mourning the loss of Mauricio G. Flores, who died
  on January 18, 2017, at the age of 91; and
         WHEREAS, Mauricio Flores was born on January 28, 1925; he
  was a lifelong resident of San Benito and beloved throughout the
  community for his kindness, his wise counsel, and his tireless
  service to others; and
         WHEREAS, As a young man of 18 years, Mauricio Flores was
  called to defend his country in the Second World War; he joined the
  United States Navy, and he served with distinction as a gunner on
  the USS Massachusetts for three years in the South Pacific; and
         WHEREAS, After his military service, Mr. Flores had a
  rewarding career as a technician with the IBM Corporation; he
  expressed his unfailing loyalty to his country and his fellow
  veterans as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he
  served as a Color Guard at funeral services for fallen veterans; and
         WHEREAS, A man of deep spiritual devotion, Mr. Flores was a
  member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church and
  Saint Benedict's Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, Mauricio Flores was a devoted husband, father,
  and grandfather and a revered member of his community; he leaves
  behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Mauricio G. Flores; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Mauricio G. Flores.
