SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 834
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Alex Shahrestani for his outstanding work as a
legislative intern in the office of Senator Royce West; and
WHEREAS, Alex Shahrestani is a student at The University of
Texas School of Law and founder of the Journal of Law and
Technology at Texas; he expects to earn his law degree in May of
2018; and
WHEREAS, As an intern in the senator's office, Alex played
an integral role in the success of "Team West"; his many
responsibilities included attending committee hearings and
summarizing the proceedings, primarily those of the Committee on
Natural Resources and Economic Development; he also researched,
analyzed, and provided feedback on bills, drafted questions for
floor debate, and spent time with constituents; and
WHEREAS, During his internship, Alex gained firsthand
knowledge of the governmental process and insight into the issues
facing our communities and our state, and he was an invaluable
asset to the staff in the office of Senator West; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Alex Shahrestani on his exemplary
work as a legislative intern for Senator Royce West and extend to
him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
