SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 83
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Stefan Sinclair, who has been named the 2014 Texas Big
Brother of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters; and
WHEREAS, Stefan Sinclair has lived in Austin for seven
years and has a successful career in game development; he
began working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas in
2010; and
WHEREAS, For two and one-half years, Stefan has been a
source of encouragement and support for his Little Brother,
Miguel Contreras; they enjoy numerous rewarding activities
together, including marathon running, cycling, canoeing, and
playing chess; due to Stefan's positive influence, Miguel has
made notable improvements in his school work and has become more
connected to his community; and
WHEREAS, In addition to spending time with Miguel, Stefan
has raised thousands of dollars for the Big Brothers Big Sisters
program through his game development company, Certain Affinity;
he also serves as a technology mentor for the program, and he
helped develop an application that enables children in the
program to find low-cost, fun activities around the city; and
WHEREAS, Stefan is being honored for his service at a
reception at the Texas Capitol on February 9, 2015; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Stefan Sinclair on his dedication to
Miguel Contreras and to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas
and congratulate him on his selection as the 2014 Texas Big
Brother of the Year; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
