| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Lewisville in celebrating the grand opening of the | ||
| Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater, which is taking place | ||
| January 14 through 16, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This exceptional facility will provide local arts | ||
| groups and artists a place in which to perform and to display | ||
| their works; it will also serve as a site for regional and | ||
| national exhibits and events; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Medical Center of Lewisville Grand Theater | ||
| will offer the versatility of a black box theater and a | ||
| traditional proscenium theater designed with acoustics for both | ||
| speech and musical performances; it also contains a dance recital | ||
| hall with a sprung wood floor and a gallery wing with natural | ||
| lighting and adjustable display walls; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The classroom wing will offer 2,800 square feet of | ||
| space for instruction, with an emphasis on studio art classes for | ||
| children, and the landscaped courtyard will add yet another | ||
| flexible space for use by local artists; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In addition to the formal dedication ceremony, | ||
| the grand opening will feature jazz and blues concerts, tours of | ||
| the facility, a brunch, a barbecue dinner, and other activities; | ||
| it is truly fitting that this exceptional new facility be | ||
| recognized as a valuable addition to the Metroplex arts scene; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend best wishes for a memorable grand | ||
| opening weekend for the Medical Center of Lewisville Grand | ||
| Theater; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a | ||
| memento of this special occasion. | ||
