SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 78
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Salvador J. Castillo for his many contributions to the
  Cameron County Veterans Services Office; and
         WHEREAS, Salvador Castillo is an exemplary citizen who is
  widely respected and admired in his community for his service on
  behalf of his country and on behalf of his fellow veterans; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Brownsville, Mr. Castillo served in
  the United States Air Force as a member of the 43rd Security
  Forces Squadron in Pope Airfield, Fort Bragg, North Carolina;
  after four years of service, he joined the Army National Guard as
  an Intel Analyst before returning to civilian life; he then
  worked as a Child Protective Services Investigator, and in 2010,
  he was hired as the assistant veterans service officer for
  Cameron County; he was appointed the director a year later; and
         WHEREAS, As director, Mr. Castillo significantly expanded
  the resources and care available for veterans in the community;
  while obtaining a master's degree in Public Administration, he
  developed such intergovernmental projects as a veterans' court
  and Cadets for Vets, and he worked on projects with the City of
  Brownsville, the Texas Veterans Commission, and the Department
  of Veterans Affairs; Mr. Castillo has been instrumental in the
  passage of several pieces of legislation that expanded services
  and support for Texas veterans, including Senate Bill 456; and
         WHEREAS, His numerous accolades include a Certificate of
  Honor from the Veterans County Service Officers Association of
  Texas and the Officer Appreciation Award from the Texas Veterans
  Commission; it is truly fitting that he receive special
  recognition for his outstanding leadership and his many
  accomplishments in the field of veterans services; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Salvador J.
  Castillo on his exceptional achievements and his dedication to
  serving veterans in the Lone Star State; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
