SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 758
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Gaspar Garcia for his outstanding work as director of
  bands at Oliveira Middle School in Brownsville; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia joined the faculty at Oliveira Middle
  School in 2013 after having served as assistant band director at
  Hanna Early College High School; he began his teaching career in
  Fort Worth, where he played an important role in the award-winning
  Southwest High School concert bands; and
         WHEREAS, All concert bands under Mr. Garcia's leadership
  have consistently won sweepstakes awards at University
  Interscholastic League competitions and invitational festivals;
  the Oliveira Middle School Symphonic Band recently placed fifth
  overall in class CCC at the Texas Music Educators Association's
  State Honor Band Contest, and it was selected a national winner
  at the National Wind Band Honors Contest through the Foundation
  for Music Education; and
         WHEREAS, An outstanding performer in his own right,
  Mr. Garcia has performed with many noted ensembles, including the
  Lone Star Wind Orchestra and the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra;
  he is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association,
  the Texas Band Masters Association, and the International Clarinet
  Association; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary educator, Gaspar Garcia is having a
  positive impact on the lives of his students, and it is truly
  fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Gaspar Garcia on his exceptional
  leadership as director of bands at Oliveira Middle School and
  extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
