| Joann Curran Zaleski | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
| citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Joann Curran Zaleski, | ||
| who died April 21, 2015, at the age of 63; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Joann Curran was born on January 12, 1952, in | ||
| Abilene, and she graduated from Rider High School in Wichita | ||
| Falls in 1970; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She earned a degree in design from the University of | ||
| North Texas and worked for a time in fashion merchandising before | ||
| enrolling at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a | ||
| degree in early childhood education and a teaching certificate; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She shared 29 years of marriage with Peter | ||
| Zaleski, and they were blessed with two daughters and a grandson | ||
| who were a source of immense pride and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Zaleski was dedicated to her work as a | ||
| prekindergarten teacher at Zavala Elementary School for 32 | ||
| years; she cared deeply for her students, many of whom benefited | ||
| from her personal assistance in times of need, and she was known | ||
| as a source of support and guidance to her colleagues; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Joann Zaleski was respected and admired for her | ||
| outstanding career as a teacher and for her many contributions to | ||
| the community; she leaves behind memories that will long be | ||
| cherished by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Joann Curran Zaleski; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Joann Zaleski. | ||
